What are your plans for Halloween this year? If you have younger kids, you might be trick-or-treating with them. If your kids are older maybe you just like to stay home and pass out candy. Or maybe you like to really go big for Halloween. Whichever camp you’re in, we have you covered! We’re sharing 6 Halloween costume ideas that we know you’ll love. We’ve taken some hot pop culture moments from the year and are turning them into an easy Halloween costume you can recreate…

Note: While we are going to try to recreate popular looks, they will not be exact…remember that Halloween costumes are all about playing and having fun so don’t focus too much on the tiny details. We’re only recommending products from retailers and brands we love and trust so that you can hopefully re-wear these pieces beyond Halloween!

#1) Barbie

Margot Robbie wore so many iconic outfits in the Barbie movie this year that it’s hard to pick just one! Be Sporty Barbie if you want to strap on your neon roller blades, Cowgirl Barbie if you love flared jeans, President Barbie if you’re feelin’ powerful, or Disco Barbie if you want to add some extra sparkle! We went with the classic look Barbie’s wearing in the opening scene of the movie. It’s a nod to the 60s when Barbie was created but it’s simple to recreate.

If you don’t want to buy anything new for your costume, all you really need is a whole lot of pink! Grab whatever pink pieces you have in your closet and BYOC…build your own costume! 😉

#2) Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour was one of the biggest pop culture moments of 2023. Her tour outfits were iconic and completely took over social media…so why not recreate your favorite era for Halloween? Whatever your favorite album or era is, there’s a way to create a costume for it. Red? Go with all red! Fearless? Some gold sparkles will do. Speak Now? Throw on something purple. Lover? All the pastels and hearts. Reputation? All you need is an edgy all-black outfit!

We decided to recreate Taylor’s Midnights era tour outfit. We wouldn’t expect you to rock a bejeweled leotard…but a sequin dress will work! Plus, you can wear it for the holidays too!

#3) Beyoncé

Another star with a record-breaking tour…the Queen B, Beyoncé! Her tour outfits are more over the top than any other artist. Instead of trying to recreate some of the more fashion-forward outfits, we chose a more subdued look to recreate for Halloween. Plus, you can wear this dress again for an event!

#4) Wednesday Addams

Anyone else’s kids watch the new Wednesday show on Netflix starring Jenna Ortega? It was huge earlier this year and it’s a cute show. Whether you’re going for Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday look or the original Wednesday Addams (Lisa Loring) outfit, it’s a super easy Halloween costume to recreate. All you really need is a black dress, a white button-down, and some chunky black shoes. Funny story…Erin owns these shoes and when she tried them on, Gage called them the “Wednesday shoes” because of the show!

#5) Shiv from Succession

The Max (formerly HBO Max) show, Succession ended in May of this year, but you can still dress as Shiv (or anyone from the cast) if you’re in mourning and wish the show had continued with a season 5. Shiv is known for her tailored looks, sleek bob, and determination for power. This is one of the easier costumes to recreate because all you need is modern, minimalist suiting to get that business-ready outfit. #6) Beth Dutton

The second half of Yellowstone season 5 was originally set to kick off in November but due to the writers and actors strike, it’s been delayed. No new information has been released on with the season will continue, but you can still dress as your favorite Yellowstone character in anticipation! Beth Dutton has a few popular looks from the show but we’re recreating her (spoiler alert) wedding look. A gold dress, a big faux fur coat, and some boots are all you need.
