A couple of weeks ago, we shared a For Less Friday post with tops under $65 and you all seemed to really love it! So, if you’re all set with your summer tops for every day, you might be needing some going-out tops too. Tops for girls’ night out, concerts, special dinners, date night, or really any occasion for which you just want to look a little “extra”. We found some sexy but not over-the-top options that put a little magic in the outfit formula secret sauce. These can be worn with jeans and heels to complete your summer evening look!

When you hear the phrase “sexy tops” you might immediately assume this means showing a ton of skin. It can be, but…that doesn’t have to be the case. You can look sexy AND sophisticated in your going out tops. Here are a few features you can look for to dial things up for a special night out.
Fabric – A silky, satin, or luxe fabric is one way to upgrade your look for the evening. Even just a silky button-down for the office can transform into the perfect GNO top with a few buttons unbuttoned and a lacy bralette peeking through. Embellishments, metallics, and lace will also dial things up.
Color – Black is always a sexy color to wear but pops of bright pink, green, blue, and even white can be equally as striking!
Cutouts – We all know showing a little skin turns up the sex factor. But you can be strategic about it. Cutouts at the shoulder, below the rib cage, and at the décolleté can all be super sexy. And of course, plunging necklines and off-the-shoulder tops, like the one Erin’s wearing above, are great for adding a splash of sexy too.
Strapless – Bustier and strapless tops are…sexy! But if that feels like too much, drape a blazer or jacket over your shoulders…also sexy!
Fit – A form-fitting top can no doubt be extra saucy, but you don’t have to wear a skin-tight top to dial up the glitz and glam. A body-skimming top that fits and flatters your shape and assets can be just as cool.
First up is this chic grid top from Anthropologie. Sheer styles are one of the hottest summer trends and this top is an accessible way to wear the trend…it’s so pretty, has a mock neck, and a tie in the back. This top is one that you could easily wear to the office with a pair of trousers like Erin is wearing here but then swap those for some denim for a girl’s night out, or black pants and sexy heels for date night. You can also wear a tank or cami with more or minimal coverage underneath the blouse depending on the occasion and your comfort level.

Here’s an example of a top that combines a silky to the touch fabric with a beautiful pop of ocean blue and a cutout. The halter tie neck allows you to get that customized fit and the gathered fabric nips in just under the bust...so flattering. The peplum ruffle skims the body and could also conceal a tummy. Just add some white jeans, strappy sandals, and you are good to go!
This is another satiny halter top from French Connection that feels both elegant and sexy and looks much more expensive than it's $58 price tag! The back is stretchy, so you’ll have that body-skimming fit. If you love your shoulders, this style would be perfect for you! The black makes a statement, but it come in 3 other colors too.
If you're looking for a going out top that isn’t overtly sexy, this top has some features like the ruffled tie cuffs and neck and the lace inserts that are a just a little bit extra. Plus you can control how deep the v-neck is by how many buttons you decide to leave open. This is one of those day-to-dinner tops that will be super versatile in your closet.
This keyhole top comes in both a beautiful rose gold metallic and silver. Can you picture the rose gold color with a nude lip and bronze skin? The chest cutout is just enough without being plunging and the cut-in shoulders and lamé fabric are sexy!
Sticking with the metallic theme, this muscle tee has an evening vibe to it for the fabric alone. You can show off your arms and keep everything else under cover. This is one of those effortless evening tops that shimmers and shines but it's basic enough to wear during the daytime too.
Who says florals can’t be sexy? This bell-sleeve top by 1.State has an open back with an adjustable tie closure. The cropped fit is perfect to pair with your high waisted denim. You can’t wear a bra with this style so you’ll need some nippies or a strapless, backless bra (linking both!)
Here’s another sheer top...this time in chocolate brown. The plunging v-neck, ruching at the waist, all-over sheer fabric and cropped fit are such sexy details! Again, wear minimal or more coverage underneath depending on your comfort level. This top also has the perfect neckline for showcasing a beautiful necklace.
OK, this one might just be our favorite. Combining a pop of color and sexy cutouts it’s a head-turner for sure! If you want to walk into a room and get noticed, this top is for you!
This is another cutout top, but this one has shorter statement making puff sleeves. The side cutouts are so perfectly placed for showing some skin in a modestly sexy way!
Here’s a strapless bustier that is silky and stunning. The corset style and pretty gold buttons elevate this top and make it special. This would look amazing with white jeans, dark wash denim, or black trousers!
Next up, a bodysuit. This Free People bodysuit is a sneaky combination of sweet and sexy. The adjustable shoulder ties and square neck with the notch v-neck are such cool details. It also comes in black and green.
It's easy to see why Free People calls this their Va Va Voop Bodysuit! The deep statement neckline and shirred puffed sleeves are a great combo, and we love the pretty pop of color!
Crochet is everywhere right now so we really wanted to find a cute and subtly sexy crochet top that you can easily wear over your tanks, or camis. With this one, you can control how much skin you want to show. This versatile top can even be worn over a swimsuit with some shorts and then out to dinner with a lacy bralette underneath!
