Feeling Unmotivated? Here’s How to Stick to Your Workout Plan Anyway

Workout Motivation

Do you always feel motivated to get your workout in? Yeah, me neither. Even knowing how much better I’m going to feel afterward doesn’t always mean I want to tie my cross-trainers. But it’s in this very situation where the change actually happens. When you tie your shoes and stick to your workout anyway, you use discipline, not motivation. Just like giving your kids new chores. Sure, they complain at first, and you have to remind them a lot. But after a while, they just do them without thinking (hopefully!). Workout motivation comes and goes, but discipline is a muscle you can train to get stronger. Using discipline to keep up with your workout doesn’t have to be boring! Here are a few fun treats to help make sticking to your workout a little more fun.

Need some workout inspiration? Check out this post on how to work your booty and this one for ways to get your abs summer ready.

1) Update Your Playlist

Revamp your “Pump It Up” playlist to feel a jolt of energy. You don’t have to erase all of your stand-bys, but adding in a few new, modern hits will turn up your stamina. Plus, you’ll have the added bonus of being able to sing along the next time you want to embarrass your kids! Make sure you never miss a note with the Bose Sport Earbuds

2) Reward Yourself

It may seem silly, but giving yourself a challenge with a reward at the end does increase the likelihood of you wanting to stick to your workout. The challenge should be hard, but not impossible, like not missing a workout for two months. And the reward should be something you want that you might not have chosen for yourself, like this Monica Vinader pendant in a beautiful, on-trend green.

3) It’s Not “All Or Nothing”

Appointments. Games. Project due dates. We all know that women tend to be the jugglers in the house. And we can get so busy juggling, that what we want to do for ourselves can get lost. Let me remind you… you can stick to your workout without always doing the whole shebang. If you want to do a 60-minute workout but only have time for 20 minutes. Do the 20. It still counts. Make it easy to keep track of your progress with the Fitbit Versa 2.

4) Change Your Clothes

Sure, mismatched and worn-out gym clothes can get the job done. But new workout clothes can add just enough spice that your workout feels fun again. We all know the power of a cute set! Make sure what you do wear adds to your workout by choosing a bra that supports your body and leggings that wick moisture. And if you’re in the market for a new pair of kicks, APLs are great for all different types of workouts and they come in 20+ color combos!
